3 Ways to Access the Internet More Securely

The internet is one of the biggest inventions of mankind, and it has been developing in a great way for a long time now. While several articles has been written about how to get faster internet access, how to be anonymous online, how to save internet bandwidth, and the likes, there aren’t as much articles on internet security published regularly. The range at which hackers work these days is quite funny, and it will be a really great mistake on your part to leave your computer unprotected. I have been researching how the internet works for some time now, and in the process, I have had to deal with my own share of security problems – this article will be listing 3 ways to access internet securely, irrespective of where you are in the world

Use a Proxy Service

Whenever you visit a particular website, a lot of details about you are logged on that website. Some of those details include your server IP, your computer IP, the time you are visiting and your screen resolution. While all those details are used to provide you with more offers related to you, they can also be used against you in the future. In fact, if you are not really careful, your IP address can be used to discover your location. Since this can be very risky and dangerous for internet users, a lot of proxy services are available for your use online. The proxy service will mask your server address and then provide the host computer with its own details – the end result is more security for you, and less details for hackers to be able to target you.

Always Use HTTPS When Possible

Another way you can protect yourself, and make yourself more secure, is by always using the HTTPS protocol. There are several types of protocols for websites online, the most common one being HTTP. Most websites you visit will use the HTTP protocol by default, which is not secure, but some important websites support the HTTPS protocol. Whenever you want to visit a very important website, such as your email service, payment processing service, or any website that requires you to enter confidential data, make sure you ensure the website starts with ‘https://’ instead of ‘http://’ – by changing the protocol to HTTPS all the data will be transmitted securely, and as a result make it impossible for anyone one to have access to your details.

Install a Firewall on Your Computer

In most cases, before a particular hacker is able to get your details they have to connect to your computer first. You can easily ensure nobody is able to connect to your computer without you having to confirm them first by installing a firewall on your computer.By having a firewall installed on your computer, you will be notified when anyone tries to connect to your computer and they won’t be able to progress without your confirmation.
